Default US Parcel - Stuck in UK Customs?

I posted before about a parcel I am waiting for from the US. It was sent using USPS Global Priority and I can track it on their website aswell as Parcelforce. It says that it was collected on 7th December and left New Jersey Airport on the 10th, but thats it. Neither USPS or Parcelforce can tell me any more.

I suspect that this parcel is either lost totally or more likely stuck in customs.

With it being out of USPS hands, but not yet into Parcelforce hands, is there anything else I can do to find it? Can UK Customs be contacted for example?

I have tried to call USPS and have not actually yet managed to speak to a real person and Parcelforce are useless!

Also, at what point will it be considered lost and eligible for compensation?

I had something by USPS before, and the tracking thing told me when it arrived at uk customs as well - took about 3 days from our customs.

how do you know it left the airport on a plane and not stuffed into someones pocket?

if it's not arrived here then it's techincally not left there has it

with the xmas rush i'd wait probably another week for it to turn up and then get onto ups about finding it

If you get through to USPS they won't talk to you about it, it's the sender who needs to contact USPS.

Been there done that.

Mine went missing for three months then ended up back at the sender, Noted as "undeliverable" , who got it sent back again free of charge.

If/When it enters our customs you usually get sent a letter saying where you can pick it up from and how much its going to cost you.

Should of had me sent it since I'm in New Jersey.
I sent out a mag to Canada and he got it 2 weeks later.. I paid to have it there in two days.

Is this the website you're using to track the package?

Depends if your lucky and it doesn't get stopped

My diff mount cost nearly the same as it would have from this country by the time the import duty was added

Get the parcel marked up as a 'gift' is one way around it,just depends how helpfull the seller is in the USA though.

Can also get them to say the item is worth alot less than what you've paid for it,only trouble being then if it goes missing the insurance will only cover the value on the invoice, not the true price you paid for it

Thats the same message I'm getting, of course the location and date/time are different.

I can 'see' it on USPS 'Track and Confirm' and Parcelforce too.

The sender did mark is as a 'gift' (not at my request), but did state the true value.

Holy thread resurrection!!

Call Parcelforce, they'll be able to tell you what to do. It's just got clogged up in the system, it will come through. Some parcels clear customs in a few minutes, some take a few days, even a few weeks. The ones that have fast postage will get priority, whereas standard non-timed services will wait until last.

It means you will have to call them and pay the tax/charges before they will release it to you.

If its at the International Hub, I'd be surprised if its waiting for payment of charges by the customer. Parcelforce are the forwarding agent, who will pay the charges, then it will become payable by the customer once it reaches the local delivery depot.

I also have that message! But I actually managed to get hold of UK customs and find out what the process is. They are able to tell you when the items will be processed ie. the lady at customs told me that all items that arrived on the 1st March 2010 will be processed on the 3rd. It's the 4th now and it hasn't yet been processed but here's hoping! I'm going on holiday on Sunday 7th and need this before then... it looks bleak.

Parcelforce also said that UK customs will send you a letter detailing the charges (if any) and you have to ring up quoting the ref number on that letter in order to pay. That too hasn't arrived yet though.

I had this the other day, I put the USPS tracking number into the Parcel Force site and it popped up. So rang Parcel Force, paid the charges with my card and got my parcel the next day

They are supposed to send you a letter with the charges on it, but I never got one after 2 weeks, so just rang them.
