Default Got ANOTHER problem with the car

Quite pissed off to be honest

As some of you may or may not know at Brands last month i bent my crank and a rod fucking a piston too

had the engine sorted so it would ready for this track day

anyway i got a train to pick it up and was told it had a new piston, crank, rod shells ect and that not to let it come on boost and to take it easy for at least 200 miles to let it all bed and run in ect

170 mile drive home and over 130 miles today and about 15 miles from home i pulled over in the services let the car cool down checked the oil filled it up with petty and off i set to try and give it some stick

for some reason my car is now only boosting at 0.8BAR and not the useual 1.8 i got 3 days to get it sorted untill this day or it will be a total waste of time in my eyes as the car feels slow as fuck

Has Air injectors that was brought brand new and have had little use what else could it be?

Goldbum Has gone to see Santa and Harvey has gone to spain what am i going to do what is wrong with my car now?

anyone? real tears

trying to keep light hearted about this problem i mean CAR i have but its getting me down as every time i use it i break somthing

Nice to meet you today Ben, your car looked brilliant covered in dirt and grime, I said to my wife I wished I could have one as a daily driver as they look brilliant when they are really dirty
Hope you get some good use out of your new purchase

tried what he said but i think Harvey must have set it to 0.8 as when i upped it he set the defi to alarm at 1BAR and i set it at 2Bar when the car was 1.8 so why would he change it?

when the car hit 1.2 it started missing so either the plug gaps have been opend up and the boost keeps blowing them out OR he has put an over boost chip in the ECU or like a running in chip ect, im not to sure but its deff been done for a reason so looks like im doing Donno at 0.8BAR

This has been sorted.

i was out for a hour playing with the boost on Sunday night with Ben.

The boost controll/duty hadn't been touched by Harvey, and once it touched 1.2 bar, it was hitting its over boost, but i felt as strong at 1 bar as it did before the rebuild @ 1.7/1.5 bar.
And as Harvey had set the defi alarm to 1 bar, we decided to put it back down to what it was till he speak to Harvey or Mike.

Anyway Mike spoke to Ben yesterday morning, and said Harvey hadn't touched the map, and was Happy to let it run at full boost.

So Ben come round for me to give it a check over and sort the boost.

Out come,

A few small boost leaks @ unions on inlet, throttle bodie, then a couple of larger leaks @ the compressor housing, and it was pissing out from under the inlet, which ended up being a pipe tee'd off the Defi Boost gauge to for something that wasn't fitted anymore, which was left off when the engine was refitted.

So basically the defi gauge feed, was being bleed off, so when it was reading 0.8 bar, the car was actually boosting 1.4-1.5 bar, which explains why it was hitting the over boost at anything above 1.2 bar.

So either later on or tomorrow, i'll be going out to set the boost, and fuel/det check it, so its ready for Bens track outing @ Dono on the 27th

The only new leak since the bottomend rebuild was the pipe that wasn't connected, the rest most of been their before.
Even tho they were there, none of them were big enough to cause a boost issue, but in the same way would be making the turbo work harder then it needs, so loosing abit of power.

Cars sorted.

Bens defi boost gauge over reads by around 2 psi.

But now set at 1.7/1.8 peak, and 1.5 held on the defi, actual = 24psi hit and 20 psi held.
Fueling on cruise is fine, and on full load is safe @ 12.3 dropping to 11.6 @ redline, with no det.

We did run it @ 28psi true peak, and 24psi held, but was running abit lean in the mid range, 13.0 dropping to 12.2:1, so i backed it off to whats safe and what Harvey set it too.

But the fueling on idle is piss poor, @ 9.0:1 when warming up, and 10.5-11.0 when warm, So does need the map trimming on the idle and cold start.

Cheers boy's.

Ben was over seeing everything i was doing

Just walked in the door, Had a good day @ Donno, and nice to meet a few of you's off here.
Ben sleeped like a baby on the way home.

- In the morning gonna drop Ben's gearbox and helicoil the threads on the box, to sort his problem of the day.
- Also got to check the defi oil pressure gauge for accuratcey (sp)
- and drop some fully 10/50 in her, as oil pressure is a tad lol on idle when oil temp goes above 70oC.
